General Bursary

General Bursary

  • PSAC Local 901 Dental Bursary - which subsidizes dental procedures not fully covered by the SGPS Health and Dental Plan to a maximum of $800.00.

    Activity Bursary - which subsidizes participation in Queen’s University clubs, intramural teams, events and conferences to a maximum of $150.00.

    Emergency Assistance Bursary - which provides emergency financial assistance to an applicant to a maximum of $450.00

    PSAC Local 901 International Bursary - which subsidizes UHIP fees for non-sponsored International Students to a maximum of $800.00

  • Proof of Expense

  • To demonstrate proof of expense, applicants must include a receipt or official invoice/quote of the activity, procedure, or emergency expense that is the subject of the application. Examples include:

    1. Dental – Copy of the Claim statement from RWAM (mailed to you after you file a Dental Claim through the SGPS Health and Dental Plan)

    2. Activity – Receipt showing proof of payment for delegate/registration/participation fee and record of attendance at the conference/event

    3. Emergency Assistance – Receipts or Invoices from the sudden, emergency expense

    4. International – Receipt showing proof of payment for UHIP Fees for a given academic year

    Please note if insufficient documentation is included, the Finance and Services Committee may request documentation, which may delay the processing of your application. If further documentation is not received, you may no longer be considered for a bursary.
  • Proof of Need

  • To demonstrate financial need, applicants must include either:

    1. A copy of their OSAP Funding Summary (or other provincial/territorial/international equivalent)

    2. Confirmation of their application/award of the Queen’s General Bursary in the same academic year

    3. For International Students: a copy of any financial assistance you have received from Queen’s (like the international student bursary)/your country of origin/or loan agreements to finance your education.

    Please note, applicants MUST include evidence of financial aid (as mentioned above), otherwise they will be ineligible for the bursary program. Ontario students who have chosen to forgo OSAP funding or a Queen's General Bursary are ineligible for the program. If insufficient documentation is included, the Finance and Services Committee may request documentation, which may delay the processing of your application. If further documentation is not received, you may no longer be considered for a bursary.
