SGPS Statement on #BlackoutTuesday and Going Forward

At the SGPS we recognize that we need to do better to support students of colour. In addition to our participation in #blackouttuesday we will be making these commitments moving forward.

  1. Commitment to add mandatory cultural safety training to our bylaws and policies (in addition to our mandated anti-oppression training);
  2. Committing to furthering internal Executive education by reaching out to the Queen’s inclusion and anti-racism advisor for educational opportunities; and
  3. Providing BIPOC students a platform for advocacy at the SGPS where Queen’s history of institutional racism can continue to be challenged.

This conversation is not over and will continue to provide updated supports as they come.
