SGPS Statement on the Conflict in the Middle East

Over the course of the last few days, we have witnessed the growing conflict in the Middle East with grave concern. The SGPS stands in solidarity with those who have been impacted by this conflict. We acknowledge and empathize with the fear experienced by the communities affected, and offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to those whose communities, families, friends, and loved ones have been impacted by this conflict. These are deeply trying moments for many communities, in particular, the Israeli and Palestinian communities experiencing the horrors that continue to take place. We understand the effects this will have on students within our campus. It is of utmost importance that we approach each other with empathy, respect, and understanding during these difficult times, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or national orientation. We wholeheartedly urge our members to seek the help they may need, including accessing academic accommodations, and to reach out for sources of support. Among the on-campus resources available are the Queen’s International Centre, Student Wellness Services, Queen’s Cultural Supports, and Faith and Spiritual Life, all of which are here to provide assistance and care during these trying times.
