The President of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (SGPS) at Queen’s University serves as the primary spokesperson and liaison between the graduate and professional student body and the university administration.

Responsibilities include academic advocacy, strategic planning, and representing SGPS in various university governance bodies such as the Senate and the University Council.

VP Graduate

Olusola Akintola


The Vice President Graduate represents and advocates for all graduate student members of the SGPS at Queen’s. Through engagement in policy and governance, acting as a liaison between students, faculty, and the University administration, their focus is on leadership, advocacy, and enhancing the graduate student experience.

VP Community

Sakura Koner


The Vice President Community oversees community engagement, student wellness initiatives such as our food insecurity programming, and diversity and inclusion efforts through their involvement in the creation of our equity policy. They foster a sense of community among graduate and professional students through liaising with university services and advocating for student needs related to social and community aspects.

VP Professional

Mary Arakelyan


The Vice President Professional represents and advocates for all professional student members of the SGPS at Queen’s. Through engagement in policy and governance, acting as a liaison between students, faculty, and the University administration, their focus is on leadership, advocacy, and enhancing the professional student experience.

VP Finance and Services

Colin Stewart


The Vice-President Finance and Services oversees the organization’s finances, including budgeting and financial reporting. They operate our Financial Assistance Program, ensuring that it aligns with student needs. Additionally, they advocate for economic stability and transparency for graduate and professional students, representing SGPS in financial matters with university administration.
